Master Class with George De La Pena

George De La Pena
Faculty, Iowa University

George De La PenaGeorge De La Peña Chair at the University of Iowa Department of Dance. Artistic Director Joffrey Ballet School, New York 2008-2010. Soloist with American Ballet Theater where he danced many principal roles and worked with some of the greatest choreographers of our time. He trained at The School of American Ballet, the Joffrey Ballet School, and American Ballet Theater School. He continues to teach throughout the United States.

Some of his other credits include Principal roles on Broadway and numerous film and television projects.

Dance Technique Class (Time below is subject to change)

  • 12:00pm – Studio open for change of clothes/stretching/warm-up
  • 1:00pm – Master Class Begins (90 minutes)
  • 2:30pm – Break for complimentary refreshments
  • 2:45pm – 30 Minute Question and Answer Period

Acting Class for Dancers 3:00pm

The class will explain how to research the emotional core of a dance for both story ballets and contemporary abstract work. It will be a fun exploration of what ACT-ivates a performer.
