Young Stars of Ballet — Open Audition

The Young Stars of Ballet are being recruited for a ballet extravaganza held on Friday, September 9, 2011, and the dance world is taking notice. Featuring Medal Winners from the world’s major competitions including Varna, Sochi, Jackson, Lausanne, YAGP, and more. The evening honors David Howard, Master Teacher to the Stars, and will unite stars from the ballet world, past and present.

Audition Location

Auditions will be held at:

• Intermediate and advanced dancers and students only - age 10 to 22
• A 60 minute dance class will be offered with abbreviated barre and center work.
• Girls, please bring pointe shoes.

Audition Times

Auditions will be held on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at the following times:

Audition times are filled. There are no openings.

– 3:30 PM (full)

Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to audition in order to fill out registration forms. Please bring a small picture (2” x 3” headshot).

Dancers should be dressed in dance attire and ballet shoes.

Additional Performance and Audition Location:

Indianapolis City Ballet's Young Stars of Ballet will be performed on September 9, 2011 at the Murat Theatre at Old National Center. Television broadcast of the performance will be produced and broadcast by WFYI television.

Grand de File - Ensemble Performance created by choreographer Carlos Dos Santos, renowned teacher and choreographer, whose works have been created on Alvin Ailey Repertory Ensemble, Complex-ions, DanceBrazil and more.

What Happens at the Audition:

Once an audition class has begun, late arrivals will not be admitted. In order for the artistic staff to fairly evaluate all children, it is important that your child stay for the duration of the audition class. You are welcome to stay at the studio during your child's audition class, but you will not be able to view your child's audition.

Audition Attire:

Either ballet attire (leotard, tights, ballet shoes) or other dance/exercise apparel. If possible, please have hair pulled back in a bun/pony tail or otherwise off your child's face.

Audition Results:

Audition results will be e-mailed to each participant within one week of audition - be sure to provide working/legible email address on registration form.

If your child auditions successfully and you choose to have him/her participate in the Young Stars program, you will be expected to pay for your child's tights, leotard, shoes, and hair products. Costumes will be student/parent responsibility . Costume will be discussed at audition.

Rehearsals:

Each role will be required to attend rehearsals. Rehearsal days are posted here (Hyperlink). Students are allowed to miss two rehearsals before they are replaced. The March 13 rehearsal as well as dress rehearsals and theatre rehearsals are mandatory.

September 8 – technical rehearsal 5PM
