Tiler Peck was born in Bakersfield, California. She began her dance training at the age of seven, studying privately with former Bolshoi Ballet principal dancer Alla Khaniashvili in Hollywood. At the age of 11 she began studying at Conjunctive Point in Culver City, California, with former New York City Ballet dancers Colleen and Patricia Neary. During this time she also studied with former NYCB principal Yvonne Mounsey at Westside School of Ballet in Santa Monica. Ms. Peck entered the School of American Ballet, the official school of New York City Ballet, full time in the fall of 2003. In September 2004, Ms. Peck became an apprentice with New York City Ballet. In February 2005 she joined the Company as a member of the corps de ballet. In December 2006, she was promoted to Soloist and in October 2009 she was promoted to Principal.
Since joining New York City Ballet, Ms. Peck has danced featured roles in George Balanchine's The Nutcracker (Sugarplum Fairy, Dewdrop, Marzipan), Allegro Brillante, Apollo, Coppelia (Swanilda), Divertimento No. 15, Donizetti Variations, Jewels (Emeralds), A Midsummer Night's Dream (Butterfly), Symphony in C (Fourth Movement), Symphony in Three Movements, Tarentella, Theme and Variations, Tschaikovsky Pas De Deux, Tschaikovsky Suite No.3, Valse Fantasie, and Who Cares?; Jerome Robbins' Fancy Free, Four Bagatelles, Interplay, Mother Goose (Princess Florine), Other Dances, The Four Seasons (Fall), and 2 & 3 Part Inventions; Peter Martins' The Sleeping Beauty (Aurora, Princess Florine, Emerald), Fearful Symmetries, The Magic Flute (Lise), Romeo + Juliet (Juliet) and Swan Lake ("Pas de Quartre"); and Christopher Wheeldon's An American in Paris, Carousel (a dance), Estancia, and Mercurial Manoeuvres; and Susan Stroman’s Double Feature. Ms. Peck has originated featured roles in Peter Martins' Friandises and The Red Violin, Mauro Bigonzetti's In Vento, Luce Nascosta, and Oltremare, and Wayne McGregor’s Outlier. Ms. Peck has danced a featured role in the NYCB premiere of Christopher d'Amboise's Tribute and originated a role in the NYCB premiere of Jerome Robbins' N.Y. Export: Opus Jazz.
Ms. Peck is a 2004 recipient of the Princess Grace Foundation - USA Dance Fellowship, a 2004 Mae L. Wien Award recipient, and Janice Levin Honoree for 2006-2007. She performed in Meredith Wilson’s The Music Man on Broadway, as Clara in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, was a guest performer on Dancing With The Stars, and made a guest appearance on Bravo’s TV show Rocco’s Dinner Party. At the opening ceremony for the 1998 Goodwill Games, Ms. Peck danced a featured role in choreography by Marguerite Derricks. Ms. Peck's film credits include appearances in A Time for Dancing (2000), Geppetto (2000), and Donnie Darko (2001).
